Another one of Dad's favorite things is Southern Gospel Music. When we were small, I can remember going to gospel sings almost every Saturday night wherever we could find one near our home. We learned to love the LeFevres, The Prophets, The Blue Ridge Quartet, The Happy Goodman Family, The Blackwood Brothers and many more groups. I still love to go to gospel sings and hear a good southern gospel concert.
Tonight, we took Mom and Dad to a church in town where a southern gospel quartet was singing. Dad especially loves the old songs. It is such a joy to watch him. I really didn't want to go because I had so many things to do this weekend, but it is always worth it to watch him enjoying the music. He gets so excited when they sing songs about what a great God we have or about Heaven. When they sing about Heaven, he will clap his hands and just laugh out loud. Tonight they were singing a peppy song called "I've Got It". He was enjoying it and as I watched him he turned and looked at me. The joy was written all over his face and he leaned over and said, "I've got it, too!" I'm so glad he is still able to go and enjoy them.
